CentOS 7 in a VM running KDE has been stable for web and email and a
few big Java applications. Scientific Linux beta 7 running natively has
X server crashes both for the console and Xvnc. It is using the ATI radeon
driver (VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI]
RV730 GL [FirePro V5700])
[ 23.397] (II) Loading /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/ati_drv.so
[ 23.397] (II) Module ati: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
[ 23.397] compiled for 1.15.0, module version = 7.2.99
[ 23.397] Module class: X.Org Video Driver
[ 23.397] ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 15.0
[ 23.397] (II) LoadModule: "radeon"
[ 23.397] (II) Loading /usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/radeon_drv.so
[ 23.398] (II) Module radeon: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
[ 23.398] compiled for 1.15.0, module version = 7.2.99
[ 23.398] Module class: X.Org Video Driver
[ 23.398] ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 15.0
I have not seen (EE) lines - in the case of Xvnc the server stops working
and has to killed
I'm very short of time at present, but I would start by checking for
reports on RH bugzilla,
I would also consider installing the vendor's drivers.
