Hi,

I'm trying to unlock the bootloader of a Nexus 4 phone, so that I may
remove/replace certain software components. I don't event want to
install any mods.

But I'm stuck.

On my Linux Mint 13 laptop, I've tried to follow these instructions
http://makegadgetswork.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/prepare-linux-mint-13-for-android.html
to setup the correct Java environment and Eclipse, which is needed to
install ADB and fastboot.

However, Eclipse 4.3 won't start. It says

JVM terminated. Exit code=13
/usr/bin/java
-Xms40m
-Xmx512m
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m
-jar
/opt/eclipse//plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.3.0.v20130327-1440.jar
-os linux
-ws gtk
-arch x86_64
-showsplash
/opt/eclipse//plugins/org.eclipse.platform_4.3.0.v20130605-2000/splash.bmp
-launcher /opt/eclipse/eclipse
-name Eclipse
--launcher.library
/opt/eclipse//plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.gtk.linux.x86_64_1.1.200.v20130521-0416/eclipse_1506.so
-startup
/opt/eclipse//plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.3.0.v20130327-1440.jar
--launcher.appendVmargs
-exitdata 19801b
-vm /usr/bin/java
-vmargs
-Xms40m
-Xmx512m
-XX:MaxPermSize=256m
-jar
/opt/eclipse//plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.3.0.v20130327-1440.jar

Maybe wrong java versions, or wrong memory settings, at least that is
what they say at
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=123894

But I don't know what to do about either. I've never done anything with
Java than have it run in the background and "do its job". My google
searches haven't been overly successful...

Greetings,
Daniel AJ
