[nSLUG] Debian and recording live tv with analogue tuner

I'm trying to set up a second box that I use as a server to also record
live tv through eastlink cable. I've gotten it so I can watch tv with
TvTime and the picture and audio are as close to perfect as possible but
when I record using mencoder, the video is perfect and the audio is
distorted to the point of barely being able to make it out. Here are the
scripts I've tried and all have the same results. Google hasn't led me
to anything that has helped so far.

I'd like to avoid suggestions of Myth if at all possible.
