[nSLUG] crontab help

I have been trying to edit my crontab file, but can't open the text
editor using following syntax:

bash-2.05b$ crontab -e
skipping 3 old session files
reading /var/spool/cron/crontab.20833
Read /var/spool/cron/crontab.20833, 0 lines, 0 chars

This is all I get. I tried it with root privileges and got similar
results. Any ideas?

Thanks
Vikram
